(last update 9 oct. 2010)
Host ID : SLA001 We moved from a big city, Ljubljana, in 2000, because we wanted a peaceful environment for our children. We live on a small (2ha) hilly farm. We are a family with three children. We are vegetarians and we produce vegetables and fruits for our own needs. We have two donkeys, two ponies, a few chickens, three cats and two dogs. We built a small log house from an old barn. We grew up in a city and therefore we’ve been still learning how to run a farm and how to do all the farm work. We have no farm machines, all the work is hand made. There are marked bicycle trails in the immediate vicinity, apiculture educational wood path and an International foot path over Jance (1 hour away by foot). We would be happy with any help: in the garden, with cultivation of meadows and in an old fruit garden, in the house (cooking,..) and around the house. We are looking forward to meet people who like children and don't mind to spend some time with them, who want to help us with our daily tasks. We take people as part of our family. Accommodation: sharing the room with the oldest son (14), during the day. At night (after 9 p.m.) you stay alone. See this video From french TV (2009)

There is hill Slivnica (1141m) behind the house and Cerknica field (period lake) in front of it. In the environs old castle ruins and a national park Rakov Škocjan.
Host ID : SLA004 Our old house name Pr`Krac dates from 1736. We run a farm of 50ha land. There are horses, pigs, goats,.. in the pasture-ground and stables. There is a lot of work to be done in woods too. Not only a lot of work but also good food and finest slovenian wines and cider is available at us. Cultural events in our gallery have been active for 21 years. There is a possibility of horse riding and exploring nearby countyside. We travel a lot and therefore we are even more compliant and looking forward to your visit. If needed, we pick you up at the Ljubljana airport. LANGUAGES: English, German, French, Serb and Croatian
Host ID : SLA005 Our farm encompasses 13 hectares (with 10 hectares of wood). We own four horses. Our family was travelling on horses around Slovenia (1200 km) two years ago. It took us 36 days. We had been accompanied by our dog – German shepherd for a quarter of the path, but later she became too tired and we had to take her home. Beside horses we also have one goose, a cat, young German shepherd, seven chicken and a rooster. There is a little cottage 6 km away from the farm house, which is situated in the middle of the clearing. There you can relax in silence. The surrounding wood needs a lot of clean up (bushes). There is work needed in the garden and pastures. Horses need to be taken care of and raised too. All volunteers are welcome to contact us by email.
Host ID : SLA006 Šega is a 3 story farm house and a barn surrounded by dense forest at the bottom of a small valley. 10 minutes away is a 10 meter + climbing gorge and waterfall with hooks. The land around the house is a combination of protected farm land is a protected wildlife reservation. We live in the house at the same time as restoring it. We grow some vegetables to feed ourselves and harvest wild food and herbs from the forest and fields around the house. We are at the early stages of construction, landscaping and getting in tune with the lifestyle of living in the forest. We are a small but growing group of people living together. We have all different beliefs, skills and personal practices which we share with each other to learn and grow. Some of us are vegetarians. Our meals are sometimes together with the whole house especially on a working day or meeting day. Who is cooking, sometimes meat lovers are asked to prepare their own meat. So we can discuss diet, snacks and meals when you arrive so that you will be happy. The residents are my husband (Slovenia) myself (Canada) our son and one man other person from Holland. We often have guests who we know from travelling that stay with us like wwoofers. We have 1 guest room with bunkbeds where men and women may share a room. Coming soon are more sleeping places. Help: We are experimenting with recycled materials and natural materials in restoration of our house. We will also do some gardening and farming on steep land, we are working toward a permaculture lifestyle, landscaping the space around the house, cooking and cleaning the house and yard and preparing wood, chopping and of course artwork. Our business at the moment is renting out large tents and equipment for festivals and hosting events in music, art and theatre. Our goal is to make a tourist farm and youth hostel. If you are interested in these kind of things you will also have an oppurtunity to be involved.

Host ID : SLA008 My property is placed in well known Vipava valley. It has mediterranean climate and is about one hour by car from the Adriatic sea. My land has terraces and is 5.000 square meters big. It is an ex vineyard transformed into an orchard with plenty of fruit trees: figs, apple trees, pear trees, plum trees. I was given this land in February 2009 and we do only organic farming. In fact it is permaculture way of living. We are vegetarians and do like open minded and handy people with passion for land and pure nature. We can provide camping and rain-water bath or bath in a nearest brook. Food is organic vegetables and fruits grown on this land. Period of help needed is from June to end of September. I expect vegeterian, non smoker, non alcoholic young people, willing to learn about eco life style and to work on land.
Host ID : SLA009 We have this land with my girlfriend. We have three horses, two dogs and chickens. Our purpose is to live withouth harming the mother earth and other beings. We grow our own food and live a very natural life. Now we live in a Tipi (native america tent) and we have also one bigger one for guests for sleeping. I do riding, archery, some martial arts and enyoy simple life in nature. We are going towards to being as much independent as possible. In the next months we will be building a natural house, basement and a lot of other stuff... Occasionaly we need some people to come live on our land, while we go away for some trip. This people stay there, live in a Tipi, and feed our animals. Food and work we will arrange individually, depending on what one wants to know or expects.
